On October 12 was held first forum in Izvalta parish,
Kraslava district organized by NGO “EVALUTION”.
The main objective of the event was to enable Izvalta
Parish residents meet to discuss their issues, discuss ideas, and work together
to improve the life of our parish, and to formulate proposals which would be
presented to the decision-makers.
Forum opening started with speeches given by acting principle of Izvalta
elementary school Z. Gaveika, on behalf of head of municipality - A. Platace and
chairmen of NGO „EVALUTION” I.Leikuma.
4 work groups were created which all equaly participated in 3
sessions of workshops covering different aspects of comunity life - the quality
of the living environment, public health, education, culture, recreation,
leisure time. Discussed the issues of binding to each participant and found common
interests and solutions within groups, as well as presented jointly created new
ideas and suggestions.
Musical break allowed looking more creatively on everyday issues and
generating solutions and visions for future. Sense of community created a
coffee break which strengthened community and informal unity atmosphere.
Evaluating the proceeding of the forum, it can be concluded that such
a gathering is necessary. According to the participants assessment of the event
they have shown satisfaction with the organization and outcomes of the forum.
